My very own Chesapeake Bay Beach Club Wedding is finally ready to be shared with the world! Wow! It is so surreal writing the blog post for your own wedding! Not only was it such a beautiful day, but it gave me so much more insight into what my couples are going through during their planning process, on the wedding day, and after! Like many of my couples we had to reschedule our wedding due to Covid-19. Our original date was in June of 2020; which of course ended up being the most perfect and beautiful weather day ever! Of course, our rescheduled day was not quite as picture perfect weather-wise. We were really hoping for one of those awesome end of August days that would be more “fall like” than “summer like” but that did not happen. It was super hot and a huge thunderstorm rolled in right at the tail-end of our photos and proceeded throughout our ceremony and cocktail hour!
Thankfully, our venue has absolutely beautiful rain back-up options. In all honesty, the ceremony space we ended up getting married in may have been even more beautiful than the lawn ceremony we were envisioning. Having had this experience as a bride, I can not recommend enough to anyone planning their wedding to make sure you love your rain back-up option just as much as your original ceremony option. I would have been absolutely devastated if this had happened and the alternative option was really ugly or not conducive to the wedding I had planned! I did also have two ceremony designs in place dependent on which space we ended up using! This may not be feasible for everyone given budgets and logistics involved, but for a type A person like me this was a must have. So please, please, please make sure when you are shopping for a venue to weigh all of the pros and cons and understand in full what the rain back-up plan is!
Also, having full trust in your vendor team is so incredibly important. We definitely had the “A team” on our wedding day and they made everything happen like clockwork. They shifted outdoor events inside, and then outside again, and made it all happen so seamlessly I could truly just focus on being a bride. I can’t recommend Samantha, and the whole team at Chesapeake Bay Beach Club enough, they are so good at what they do and made our day incredible.
The biggest piece of advice I can give is to just be in the moment and don’t sweat the small stuff. Your wedding day will be imperfectly perfect. The flaw for our day was the weather but we had lots of contingency plans in place so it ended up being everything we wanted it to be. What you need to focus on is 1) marrying the person you have chosen to spend the rest of your life with 2) all of the people who have come from near and far to be with you.
The favorite parts of my Chesapeake Bay Beach Club Wedding were 1) our personal vows 2) dancing the night away with everyone thanks to our incredible band (Thank you Onyx with Washington Talent) 3) The amazing speeches (especially my sister’s roast, I mean toast!) 4) seeing all of our friends and family together and having such a great time with everyone! 5) seeing my wedding design FINALLY come to life (please see the list of our amazing vendors below!)

Our first look was a moment I will always remember! It was surreal finally being in that moment and having Carl see me as his bride for the first time!
Next up, we had to get photos with our fur baby, Olive!
This was our back-up ceremony option! I am so happy we had already rented the arch and draping just in case we had to move inside!
